Hey everyone!
What an interesting month it has been. The Chakra House has gone through numerous changes with our recent relocation, so I thought I’d take a break from our monthly advice column and talk about how to deal with change energetically.
You know how they say, the two things you can’t avoid are death and taxes? Well, I’d like to add “change” in there as well. I guess technically it is possible to avoid change, but without change there is no evolution. No growth. No possibility. Yes, it can be scary sometimes, but it is crucial to our development as human beings and our energy systems.
Sometimes we are searching for a change and feel blocked and unable to shift into the new. This happens when our spirits are ready to go, but our physical self may not be on board. Emotions, beliefs and sometimes actual physical ailments may prevent us from noticing or accessing the energetic opportunities that surround us.
To make sure that you are achieving your potential for a flowing, changing and shifting energy system, here are some steps you can take:
  1. Develop a regular “check-in” meditation or moment in your day. We often forget to just talk to ourselves — or better yet — listen to ourselves. You are incredibly intuitive whether you know it or not. The moment you stop listening to your own needs and wants, you disconnect yourself from your own natural ability to receive answers for yourself. Even if it is only for one minute, find time each day to check in with yourself. “How am I doing?”
  2. Remember that it is okay to let go. I don’t think I could ever talk about grounding enough. Without letting energy go, there is no room to fill up with the fabulous energies around us. Release and let go. Grounding or letting go doesn’t mean that you forget experiences or difficult situations. When you ground, you are letting go of the emotional charge and mental stress those situations create. Remember the moments, let go of the rest.
  3. Replenish your energy now that there is room. Imagine yourself connected to, well, you. The true you. The you without all the stress, drama and issues that the physical you faces. The you that is pure and ready for anything that comes your way. This is the real you. What do you really look like, sound like, feel like? Who are you really? Once you connect to this part of yourself, you will feel that change is a natural process that isn’t to be feared or searched for. You will flow into the new opportunities with ease.
Have fun experimenting, and come visit The Chakra House at our new location to see how we are dealing with our change by checking in, grounding and replenishing.

Black Sheep

Dear Tina,
With the holidays rapidly approaching, I am already feeling panicked about family get-togethers.  I don’t get along with my family and feel like they don’t understand me.  I need help knowing how to handle being with people that bring out the bad side of me.
—Black Sheep

Dear Black Sheep,
Family is interesting whether biological, in-laws or caretakers in general.  There are three main areas that you can work on to make the holidays at least bearable if not pleasant.  The first and main area to work with is your boundaries.

A Rainy Reminder

Sometimes we all need a reminder of how to stay in balance, including myself.  For this month’s column I thought an experience I had would resonate with many of you regarding this.

I was driving back home from a relaxing holiday weekend when it started to downpour.  Lighting was striking left and right and the rain on the windshield left no room to see the speeding cars around me.  This has always been a source of panic for me in the past - control.  Not having control of the surroundings and knowing that at any moment a car could lose control.

Healer for Others

Dear Tina,
I am exhausted. I feel like I am being used for my good nature. I feel like my only place is to help other people even when I don’t get anything in return. I can’t say no. I want to say no, but I feel like I’m doing something wrong. How can I get back to me? I don’t even know what that is anymore.
—Healer for Others
Dear Healer for Others,
You nailed the issue in the title you chose. You are a healer — a natural, innate healer. Unfortunately this miraculous gift seems like it has taken over your body, your mind and your true purpose.

Negative Nancy

Dear Tina,
Over the last year I’ve noticed a gradual change in my attitude about life and the people around me. I have been getting more and more irritable, frustrated, angry and annoyed. Even though I feel these things, I don’t recognize myself at all. I have always been the one that others go to for support and help. I used to pride myself on that. I want to get myself back, but I just don’t want to be around anyone. What can I do?
—Negative Nancy
Dear Negative Nancy,
First of all, don’t beat yourself up. Doing so will only set in more unproductive energy that you will have to clear up to find yourself again. Listen to what comes up for you and express it.

People Panicker

Dear Tina,
Every time I am surrounded by a lot of people I get really uncomfortable, anxious and panicky. I am a very outgoing person and I like being social, but in crowds, at large parties or in a crowded elevator I feel almost sick. What is going on with me energetically, if anything?
—People Panicker
Dear People Panicker,
Yes, there is something going on with your energy, and although you may not think so now, it’s a gift! Let me explain.
There are a number of intuitive gifts out there and most of us naturally use at least two of them regularly. There are feeling or kinesthetic gifts, visual gifts and verbal gifts. Each of these innate abilities helps us receive intuitive information.

Unsettled

Dear Tina,
My family and I just moved into a new house two months ago. It’s everything we have ever wanted, however I can’t settle in. I find myself wanting to rewind the clock and stay in our old house even though it was way too small for our growing family. My wife and kids love our new space, but I find myself getting more and more depressed and almost fearful. Could this be related to my energy? If so, what can I do to fix this?
—Unsettled
Dear Unsettled,
Change is always very difficult no matter what the circumstance. My first question is, do you feel this way every time a big change comes your way or just this one? Either way, yes, this is an energy issue related to grounding.

Lifetimes of Old

Dear Tina,
I have been fascinated with past lives since I went through a past life regression to understand unexplainable anxiety. I am curious. Do we have similar personalities in other lives? Is there anything that is the same about me life after life?
—Lifetimes of Old
Dear Lifetimes of Old,
Absolutely! Let’s backtrack a little to understand energy and the soul a bit better.
Pure spirit is oneness, the essence of love and instant communication. As amazing as this is, spirit is limited when it comes to growth and evolution. Why change if everything is grand? In order to shift, our spirit acquired a soul set with a variety of intuitive gifts uniquely placed to fulfill a purpose — a spiritual vision. A soul can travel and experience joys and traumas in order to learn and love. Each lesson helps shift the greater spirit toward a new stage.

Keeping My Distance: A look at distance healing sessions

Dear Tina,
How do distance healings work?  It just doesn’t make sense how an energy worker can balance someone when they are not physically there.  Could you explain this please?
—Keeping my Distance

Dear Keeping my Distance,
I completely understand why the idea of distance energy work, healings and readings just don’t make sense.  Let me explain.

Eyes But Can't See

Dear Tina,
I know that I am intuitive. I can feel my heart telling me what is right or wrong for me to do; however, I can’t see anything visually. Is it possible to learn how to receive intuition through sight or do you have to be born with that ability?
—Eyes But Can’t See
Dear Eyes But Can’t See,
Yes, you are intuitive. What you are describing is an innate heart chakra gift within your spirit and, therefore, body. Heart gifts not only alert you with a change in heartbeat, a swelling in your chest or a change in breathing, it also allows you to heal through your heart and hands. This is a powerful gift that can sometimes be difficult to control. It may sometimes feel like you have to help someone or that you are responsible for fixing other peoples’ problems. If you feel that way, some boundaries are in order!

Healing and New Year's Resolutions

Hey Everyone!
This month we are taking a break from our regular Energy Advice Column to talk about Healing and your New Year’s Resolutions.  It is unbelievable how many resolutions have to do with healing, well-being, taking care of yourself, standing up for yourself, etc.  Actually, I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a resolution that wasn’t about healing in some way, shape or form.  I would like to introduce a new way of looking at your resolutions and yourself.

Take this in:  Healing is Becoming Whole.  Think about it.  If you feel whole, then there is nothing to heal, fix or rework.  You are whole.
