Focused Father: An energetic look at ADHD

Dear Tina,
My son is going into the 7th grade this year, and has just been diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.)  We are looking into medication, but I’m wondering if there is anything he can do to manage and focus his energy in a different way.  I know what a truly bright kid he is, and I don’t want to see him fall behind any more than he already has.

Dear Focused Father,
Children and adults diagnosed with ADD or ADHD have no doubt had a tough road.  There are many ways to assist in their healing through traditional and alternative therapies.  There are many bodyworks and healers that disagree with the use of medication.  I don’t have a problem with it when properly diagnosed and used correctly, but don’t stop there.  Medication can bring a person to a more stable state in order to continue treatment.  This is where energy work can be highly successful.

Any attention disorder points to an imbalance and disproportionate placement of a person’s energy.  After investigating which chakras are channeling too much energy and which don’t utilize enough, you can then treat the cause and symptoms easily with healing work, crystals, essential oils, etc.

While there are many symptoms of attention and/or hyperactivity disorders, here is one example.  Let’s say the 3rd and 6th chakras are imbalanced.  The 3rd chakra regulates motivation, ambition, empowerment and basically anything on your “to-do” list.  It’s the energy of ‘getting things done.’  The 6th chakra regulates focus, attention, clarity, decision-making and envisioning.  If there were an over-stimulation in the 3rd chakra and an under-stimulation in the 6th chakra, a child would lack the focus to be able to get things done.

Aside from energy work, there are fantastic cognitive training facilities, such as Learning Rx, nationwide that specialize in re-training the brain to process and hold information more effectively.  Combining energy work and re-patterning, it is a possibility that medication won’t be necessary anymore.  I’ve seen amazing results from combining these treatments.
